James and Nikki had a brilliant day last month recording podcasts with Dave Harries of Communicate TV. It’s the first time we’ve recorded podcasts so our first series had to be on our favourite subject – succession planning for your business. We split this into 5 separate topics, with a podcast on each:
- Planning ahead
- Common barriers to your succession plan
- Selling your business
- The VF-MBO (haven’t heard of it? It’s one of those best-kept secrets – and one which we think every business owner should know about)
- Share Incentives
Our podcasts are designed to give you lots of information and things to think about. So grab a cuppa and take a 10/15 minutes time-out.
Together with our dedicated web pages, fact sheets and videos, our library of (free) information on succession planning is available any time you want to take a look.
Fire & Ice Ball in aid of SpecialEffect
Following the launch of Twin Town 18 at Blenheim Palace we’ve been hard at work planning our team’s fundraising events for SpecialEffect. The first to be announced: a Fire & Ice Ball at Witney Lakes!
With a 3 course dinner and live music from local band Breeze the event is set to be a fabulous evening. Bookings are open and we’re hoping to see lots of Twin Towners, SpecialEffect supporters and local friends and contacts there.
If you’d like to book tickets, or a table, please contact Natalie or Nikki, or alternatively, use the contact details on the flyer :).
We have a new face!
We were delighted to welcome Gail Vallis to our office on Monday for her very first week with us. Gail was chosen as our next Trainee Solicitor (from 140 candidates!) and is a very welcome new addition to the team.
Gail is currently studying her Legal Practice Course part-time and comes to us after a very successful 9 year career with Merck. Here’s what Gail said in our quick-fire Q&A:
Q: BBQ and a beer or fancy restaurant and a glass of bubbly?
A: Barbecue and beer (well cider!) any day…as long as it’s warm and sunny!
Q: What is your own personal challenge outside work?
A: To try and help people who aren’t as well off as me, though life often gets in the way of this. A few things such as donation drives for refugees as well as the homeless in Oxford, volunteering for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent and pro bono work through university for the National Centre for Domestic Violence.
Q: 3 things your friends would say about you?
A: Compassionate – you care about people and the things that are important to them regardless of who they are. Organised – that is literally you, everything has a timeline and is part of a list or spreadsheet and gets ticked off as it’s done. Driven/determined – you have a clear picture of what you want to achieve and how you’re going to get there.
Gail’s already been out and about with us during her first week, at meetings, seminars and networking events – so you’ll probably be meeting her very soon.
With more next month, thanks for reading !
